A little about me!

Hi, I'm Alexa!
I'm a recent graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and received my Bachelor of Arts in December of 2024. There, I majored in Studio Art with Minors in French and Art History. During my time at Indiana University, I was a part of a multiple student organizations, including IU's Puerto Rican Student Association, of which I was on the executive board. I was also fortunate enough to study abroad my senior year in Salerno, Italy which was a formative experience in my college career.
I am originally from Caguas, Puerto Rico and moved to Carmel, Indiana with my family in 2012. I draw a lot on my multicultural upbringing in my work to highlight the duality of my identity, and to show how both Puerto Rico and the US have shaped me into the person I am today.
I'm fascinated by vibrant colors and use them a lot in my work, I'm particularly interested in developing different color relationships and exploring how those interact within the subjects I depict. My work right now varies between representational and abstract, and I love to explore the ways in which I can depict that through color blocking, layering, and more.
When I'm not making art, I enjoy journaling, reading, spending time with friends and family, and traveling whenever I can.
I love living life to the fullest and am excited to see what this next chapter brings. I hope you'll follow along!
